Nuclear Crisis in Japan
We are facing big earthquakes of M8.4 called the Nankai Trough Earthquake in the south part of Japan. According to the new damage estimation of the earthquake by the Japanese government (NHK [1]), massive tsunami of more than 10 meters are forecasted in the many cities along the Pacific coast from Shizuoka prefecture to Miyazaki prefecture.
The Ikata nuclear power plant is built on the top of the Median Tectonic Line. Hamaoka nuclear power plant is built on the top of the three tectonic plates boundaries. Both plants will be hit by the extremely fierce quake far beyond the earthquake-resistant limits of them. However, one reactor in Ikata is still running and a huge amount of spent fuel is stored in the cooling pools in both plants. This is a nuclear crisis not only for the Japanese people but also for all people in the world.Â

Solution to Nuclear Crisis

Research for Nuclear Crisis
First we investigated the Nankai Trough Earthquake and the current situation of nuclear facilities in Japan. Then we considered the possible solution to the nuclear problems. We also conducted an in-depth study of immobilisation of high-level radioactive waste for the solution to the high-level radioactive liquid waste in Tokai.
